Discussion Questions
At Life Group we practice reading the word. Our discussion at Life Group is an opportunity for us to learn how to read our Bibles. We practice the basics of observation, interpretation, and application every week. The following questions are applicable every time we discuss a passage in scripture.
Observation — What does it say?
Are there any repeated or connector words? Or names or titles? Do any words need to be defined? How is that word used in other parts of Scripture?
How does the passage fit together? Is there comparison and contrast? What sticks out or seems important?
Interpretation — What does it mean?
Why is this text here? Why did the author write things in this way? Remember context.
What does that phrase mean? Have you seen it before? Does it connect to another phrase or idea in another book or testament?
Application — How should i respond?
Is your heart, affections, or character aligned with this text?
How does God call you to engage the world in light of this text?
