Section 1: Definition of Membership

Membership in the local church is a voluntary expression of a believer’s desire to commit themselves to the ministry of that local body, and enjoy the commitment of the church to their spiritual growth.  Local church membership is not expressed as a formality in the Scripture because a Christian unaffiliated with a local church was an unknown idea.  The New Testament assumes that it is normal for every Christian to be baptized and to participate fully in a local church.

Individuals are welcome to attend the Church and participate in various ministries without pressure to become members.  Membership is required for certain leadership positions and voting in business meetings.
