Article 3: Covenant
On the basis that we serve a covenant-making and covenant-keeping God, we joyfully and resolutely enter into covenant community with one another.
We promise, by God's grace and through the indwelling presence of His Spirit:
to live lives in keeping with the truth of the gospel (Galatians 2:14), continually repenting of our sin (Romans 8:13; Colossians 3:5) and walking by faith in “newness of life” (Romans 6:1-14; Ephesians 4:23-24; Colossians 3:9-10);
to care for and promote both the purposes and unity of God’s church through regular attendance (Acts 20:7; Hebrews 10:25), corporate and private prayer (Ephesians 6:18; 1 Thessalonians 5:17), ministerial service (Ephesians 4:11-16), financial giving (Malachi 3:8-10; 2 Corinthians 8:3-9; 9:6-11) and by submitting to its spiritual authority (1 Thessalonians 5:12-13; 1 Timothy 5:17; Hebrews 13:17);
to commit ourselves, in tangible relationships and small group communities, to fulfilling the “one another” commands found throughout the New Testament;
and to passionately participate in God’s kingdom-bringing mission by serving, influencing, and evangelizing the lost people and communities around us (Matthew 9:36-38; 28:19-20; 1 Corinthians 9:19-22).
